The building, commissioned by the first bishop of Botucatu, was designed in 1913 to house the Seminário Arquidiocesano São José (São José Archdiocese Seminary). In keeping with the architectural trends of the time, it features a neo-Gothic design. It is distinguished by its large, ornamented windows, wooden doors, and gardens flanking its entrance.
