Built in rammed earth by enslaved people in the 19th century, the chapel once served as a waypoint for tropeiros, or muleteers. Its white façade, with green detailing, has the hallmarks of traditional rural architecture in São Paulo, with a central bell tower topped by a cross and an arched wooden door.
