Spanning 2,071 hectares, the park features a diverse landscape that includes hills, escarpments, and river plains. It offers basic infrastructure for visitors, including marked trails. It offers basic visitor infrastructure, including well-signed trails. The park is essential for the conservation of key Cerrado and Atlantic Forest ecosystems and is famous for its abundance of jequitibá-rosa (Cariniana legalis), an endangered tree species. Notably, the park is home to the oldest known specimen, an impressive forty-two meters in height and four meters in diameter.
