A classic example of 19th-century São Paulo colonial-style architecture, the building blends rammed-earth and wattle-and-daub construction with neoclassical elements. It features a ceramic gable roof, and its façade is painted in shades of yellow, white, and blue. Its imposing entrance is adorned with hand-carved wooden sculptures of birds. The building was restored in 1941 by João Baptista D’Azevedo Antunes and still preserves its original furniture.
