The second-oldest cinema in Brazil, Cine Lyra was built in 1903 to host music classes and cultural activities for the families of railway construction workers. It is listed by IPHAN (National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage), CONDEPHAAT (Council for the Defense of Historical, Archaeological, Artistic, and Touristic Heritage of the State of São Paulo), and COMDEPHAAPASA (Municipal Council for the Historical, Artistic, Architectural-Urbanistic, and Landscape Heritage of Santo André). The building, built entirely of wood, features high ceilings and black theater chairs that complement its historic atmosphere.
