The chapel is a gorgeous example of colonial religious architecture and is listed by the São Paulo State Council for the Defense of Historical, Archaeological, Artistic, and Tourist Heritage. The site has undergone multiple restorations over the years, all aimed at preserving its history. The preservation and restoration work involved repairing cracks, roof issues, and termite damage. It also focused on the chapel’s collection of sacred art, which was replenished through new donations and the restoration of original pieces. The 2001 restoration phase specifically addressed painting, electrical upgrades, and the main altar.
