Once the Fazenda da Tecelagem Parahyba, the Parque Roberto Burle Marx, also known as Parque da Cidade, was inaugurated in 1996 and spans nearly one million square meters. This sprawling park combines rich fauna and flora with trails, historic ruins, and cultural spaces, creating a unique blend of natural and urban settings. The park’s ruins, including partially preserved walls and structures, are a remnant of the region’s industrial and agricultural past. The grounds also house the Residência Olivo Gomes, a landmark of Brazilian modernist architecture designed by Rino Levi with gardens by Burle Marx. As a designated historic heritage site, the park beautifully integrates architecture, memory, nature, and history.
