Founded in 1949 by Santoro Mirone, a former Italian navy officer, the farm still features sections of the Fábrica Aburá, or Aburá Factory, a solid-brick factory that once produced peanut oil, next to which stands the Roman-style Chapel of São José, built with traditional techniques and finished in a weathered yellow tone.
