Formerly used for the preparation of salted, pressed, dried, and smoked products, the building was part of a business created by Japanese immigrants who came to Brazil seeking new opportunities. The space was equipped to handle every stage of fish processing, complete with a pier and an access walkway for boats. The exposed-brickwork building remains an important historical landmark.
