Erected between the 18th and 19th centuries, the basilica was built using Portuguese stone, mortar, and whale oil. Its main entrance reflects rococo influences, while the interior features neoclassical elements, including painted ceilings, towering columns, and arched structures. Designated as Iguape’s main parish church in 1858, it remains one of the city’s most significant historical landmarks.
